Ever wondered what it is like for your favourite actresses to get red carpet ready? To be honest, I probably think about this way more than I should, and thanks to BAFTA and House of Fraser I’ve experienced a little of the fun, the pampering and the divine dresses and jewels, thanks to their amazing style suit preview.
This happened a few weeks ago, I have sadly been waiting for the pictures so wasn’t able to share with you earlier, but the preview was basically a run through for the BAFTA TV Awards that took place on Sunday night. Did you all watch? I thought Graham Norton was hilarious as ever, but the red carpet was less than inspiring.
But hey back to my red carpet experience, without the red carpet, where I was given the A-list treatment from BAFTA’s style partners – from red carpet-ready hair by Mark Hill to a makeover by MAC, and I was even styled up by House of Fraser, they have a gorgeous red carpet ready collection of gowns, and the final touch was to be bedazzled by the stunning pieces from Carat London. Each stop was like a fairytale dream, I don’t think I have been that pampered since I got married. 
First stop was hair, the wonderful Jules from the Mark Hill team decided to keep my hair down but to make red carpet ready they were going to add va va voom by adding volume and curls, using the Mark Hill curling tongues. The result uber-big hair and Samsun-like confidence isn’t it strange how when you are having a great hair day you instantly feel prettier.
I was also introduced to the world of Periscope while having my hair done, a live-streaming video app via Twitter, where Jules basically went through how to recreate my look. Sadly the videos only last 24 hours so I can’t share, which is sad, as he made this curl-bomb hair look so easy to do.
Next stop make-up, and I was given a beautiful manicure, I went for a nude metallic, I just love how the bronze colour changed with the light. Not quite the red carpet norm though as my MAC manicurist said that most actresses opt for a matte nude or a striking red, it’s very rare for something different.
Nails drying, the fab make-up artist got to work with making my face look pretty, and as always I opted for dramatic eyes, and didn’t they turn out pretty, the colours she used really made my iris a gorgeous chocolate brown colour, and they even stood out under my glasses.
If my day had finished there I would have been in heaven, having my hair and make-up done is a real treat, a big confidence boost and I wish it could be a daily event!
But it didn’t stop, next up was styling, I got to shop through gorgeous rails of evening gowns from House of Fraser, as you can’t hit the red carpet without a gorgeous gown, shoes and lots of bling. I went for this Adrianna Papell beaded dress, I fell for its blouson-style bodice, and the gorgeous Art Deco embellishments plus the colour really is beautiful. I thought it was purple, but maybe it’s actually blue, I loved the two-tone effect with the top, and I thought it was very flattering. Do you like?
To give my look a final sparkle Carat London decked me out in jewels from their Canary Yellow collection, I really liked the contrast of the colours and the gorgeous tennis diamond bracelet was so divine, as were the earrings, which my hair kind of hid, and the stunning cocktail ring that really wanted to come home with me!!!
The only thing missing about the whole experience was the lack of a red carpet – my big hair really needed a party to attend. It was also lovely that I got to share the experience with some friends, always nice to play dress up with peeps you know, and Naomi from The Lifestyle Edit really did look absolutely stunning.
