Floating Through Summer

Floating Through Summer

Have you ever bought an outfit that you loved in store and then instantly disliked as soon as you’ve got it out of the bag? This look, which I picked up in Primark, stood out in the store and then as soon as I tried it on together I just thought I looked fat. I was going to take them back, life got in the way, I forgot, and as you do I fell in love with the pieces again. It’s weird when that happens, I just chalk it down to the craziness of being a woman, we all have body confidence wobbles.

Also do you find that your mood can change the way you think about a look? My opinions can change with the weather, who I’m with, and with my mood whether I’m happy, sad or stressed. Last weekend was seriously fun as I got to spend time with my besties Jim and Sarah, who had fun photobombing their silly friend posing away in the name of fashion blogging, and I think the fact I was happy made me see this look in a new light.

I have to be honest I loved wearing it, I’m obsessed with floaty looks in the summer, and I love the cool silhouette of this with the dip-hem of the skirt and the ruffle of the off-the-shoulder style of the top, which worked really well with the breeze in Salisbury, this look certainly needed a little movement and I hope that comes across in these pictures.

There is something so comfortable and chic about this look, but also so fun, perfect for a sunny weekend checking out the tourist spots of Salisbury, and I love how it isn’t overly revealing, yep I have my legs out and shoulders, but it there is a sophistication about the look.

I also didn’t realise until I went to write this post that this is a budget outfit, sometimes it just works out like that, as the skirt, top and belt come under £20 from Primark, and the gladiator flats, which are about 4 years old from Tesco’s F&F collection were no more than £10 when I bought them. It seems the only thing, not budget are my accessories, my Rebecca Minkoff bag that I have recently rediscovered, it has been packed away in my archives, and my sunglasses also designer by Jil Sander, but they were a discounted price as they are from Glasses Direct.

I find summer is when you can work more budget-friendly pieces into your wardrobe, maybe because there are more trend-led items on offer, maybe because it’s all about those summer holiday pieces, or maybe I’m more adventurous when the weather is nice and I don’t want to go crazy with pieces I might only wear once. On this occasion, I think I will be wearing these pieces a lot.

Do you turn to budget stores for your summer wardrobe?
