There is something special about a Christmas wreath, they instantly make me smile when I see them hanging on people’s doors and windows, and I’ve discovered that people in my village love going all out on their wreaths, and this year I really wanted to make my own.
I have to be honest, this isn’t the first time I thought making my own Christmas wreath was a good idea, a couple of years ago I bought lots of supplies, raided the local garden centre, foraged in the garden, and then fail miserably as I had no clue how to put it all together, seriously no amount of Youtube tutorials could help, in the end, I bought one. I don’t know why but it really felt a little overwhelming.
This year, I discovered the amazing Wreath Making Delivered, who have basically put together a DIY luxury wreath making kit, filled with everything you will need, including the copper wreath ring, reel wire, very important to secure everything, as well as all the foliage, all pre-cut into the right size. All you need is half-an-hour, Christmas tunes on repeat, and a mug of hot chocolate to get creative.
If like me, you love the idea of getting creative at Christmas, but in all honest have no clue where to start, Wreath Making Delivered has taken all the hard work out of the equation, all you need to do is decide, do you want to make a mix foliage wreath, one dedicated to copper and blue grey, or one filled with beautiful metallics. Each one really does looks beautiful.
I was kindly gifted one of the Metallic Wreath kits, which comes with stunning mixed fresh foliage that has been sprayed stunning shades of silver, rose gold, copper and gold, which really do look wonderful against the evergreen foliage.
Don’t worry, you don’t just get the kit with no instructions, inside the box is a weblink to an easy-to-follow video tutorial to guide you through the process, plus there are step-by-step photos online, just to give you a little confidence as you go that you are doing the right thing. The only additional equipment you will need is a pair of scissors or secateurs – to cut down some of the pieces to size.
I was surprised how easy it was, I think it helped that I did a wreath-making workshop at an event this summer, the principles were similar, and you just have to remember when you are doing it that all Christmas wreaths will be unique, the foliage will be different, the flowers, and the decorations, which is what makes them special. Just have fun with it and hang your creation with pride on your door!
Three easy steps to make your own Christmas wreath
Want to see how I got on, I did a little IGTV video (click or scroll to the bottom to view), it basically shows if I can make a Christmas wreath anyone can. It was easy to follow the instructions and I loved the selection of evergreen and fresh foliage I was supplied with, and for £45 it really is excellent value for money. Even Falcon approved when I hung it on our door.
