There is something nice about the transition from summer to autumn. I love the summer glow, the warmer weather, the hours and hours spent outdoors, but then comes autumn with its crunchy leaves, changing colours and the crackling fire. A big factor for me though is the wardrobe change – that moment when it is finally proper jumper weather.
Yes, summer months can be great for lighter knits, but there is something so cosy about wrapping myself up in a giant oversized jumper. Basically, the bigger the better. You know the kind that takes up a whole drawer to themselves, which you have to vacuum pack during the summer months just to navigate around your wardrobe. I always love that moment when my jumpers can come out of storage.
Each year I always rediscover a gorgeous jumper that I haven’t worn in years. This year I discovered a lilac beauty that I picked up in a vintage store, it is like three-times too big, but it really comes into its own with this WFH and Covid lockdown life. Then there was this warmer than it looks cashmere striped jumper, and I even found a cracker for Christmas that I can’t wait to wear on repeat come December.
When it comes to adding new jumpers to my collection I’m particularly picky, everything comes down to the touch. Something that is particularly difficult at the moment. Online shopping doesn’t really work well with the feely, touchy kind of shopper does it?

If I had to buy three right this second – I would go for the fabulous & Other Stories mock neck sweater, it comes in a variety of colours, I’m torn between the green and the pink, but for £35 it really is a steal. I can’t resist this half-zip cable jumper from Nu-In, the colour is dreamy as is the fact it is made from 50% Recycled Cotton and 50% Recycled Polyester, plus a great price too at £46.
Final pick and it has been hard to choose, has to be this Baukjen chunky cable rollneck jumper. Not only is this a timeless and relaxed style, which will literally work with anything, it is also made from recycled wool, so sustainable as well.
