Hello 4-Day Weekend

Hello 4-Day Weekend

Hand’s up who is ready for the long weekend? Yep, me too. I have had the kind of week where I have been counting down to the weekend since, well, Sunday night!!! When you take on a new project, hello fabulous new travel blog, Travelista Barbie, buy a new house, which FYI I can’t wait to share with you all, take on a few more freelance gigs, have that regularly day-to-day work, and a blog, it means that your week flies by, but can also mean you long for those two days a week where you get to just curl up into a ball and do nothing.

I actually don’t remember the last time I had a free weekend that didn’t involve that frantic clean up before someone came to view the house, or the crazy amount of houses we were viewing to find our lovely new home, or taking the dog to training, or even to just catch up on work. So this weekend, I’m saying enough is enough, and it feels extra special as it is a long weekend that centres around chocolate, so I’ll be in heaven. Plus, I see this long weekend as my last little bit of freedom until we move into our new home, so I plan on making the most of it.

So to celebrate my free weekend and the fact we have four days, yep, a four day weekend, I thought I would jot down the four things I’m looking forward to this weekend:

1

Picnic

I don’t really need any excuse to get my picnic basket out, I love a good picnic, from making up tiny sandwiches to baking a special cake, to finding the ultimate spot, partially under a tree to sit down on a cute rug and enjoy a little mini feast, while listening to a little music and reading a good book. Pure bliss.

2

Beach

One of the things I’m looking forward to when we move is being closer to the beach, there is just something comforting about being by the sea, and I can’t wait when it’s only 15 mins away, instead of the current hour plus drive, but hey, if the weather is nice like last weekend it will be totally worth it.

3

Punting

You can’t have friends come to stay in Cambridge without going punting as it really does offer a different view of the city to see the Cambridge College ‘Backs’ such as King’s College Chapel, The Wren Library at Trinity College and the Bridge of Sighs. My tip, if it is slightly colder take a blanket, no matter the weather grab a bottle of bubbly and some strawberries and have a mini picnic on the river.

4

Dog Walk

Since Falcon came into our lives we’ve been spending more time outdoors, which can only be a good thing, however, in winter it did feel a bit of a chore, now the weather is getting nicer it is such a pleasure searching out a new walk for us all to enjoy together as a family.

How are you planning to spend your long weekend?
