Summer and cocktails just go hand-in-hand don’t they and I have a cracker for you – the refreshing and fruity Amalfi Sunset Spritz, with Malfy Gin, made with the peel of Sicilian blood oranges that will have you imagining you are on holiday on the Italian coast.
I can’t take credit for this cocktail inspiration, I was actually sent this amazing Create At Home Cocktails kit for 4 for a Zoom meeting, on the day it wasn’t exactly cocktail weather, so I saved it for a glorious day and I’m glad I did, as this spritz is perfect when the sun is shining.
The kit comes with everything you need, Malfy Gin Con Arancia, San Pellegrino Aranciata, Basil and Bergamot syrup, and Prosecco, as well as a fresh pink grapefruit and thyme for the garnish, along with instructions. All you need to do is find a glass, a large wine glass will do, grab some ice cubs and get mixing.
To Make Your Amalfi Sunset Spritz
For the cocktail
- Pour 50ml Malfy Gin Con Arancia into a wine glass over ice
- Add 25ml of the Basil and Bergamot syrup and 50ml San Pellegrino Aranciata Blood Orange
- Stir it together
- Top with 50ml of Prosecco
For the garnish
- Add a wedge of pink grapefruit or an orange slice
- A sprig of thyme
- A few strawberries sliced for an added fruity kick
Want a non-alcoholic version?
- Switch out the gin and Prosecco for Remedy’s Switchel Blood Orange for a tangy kick.

What makes this cocktail perfect for the summer has to be the Malfy Gin Con Arancia, not only does its deep ruby orange colour look incredible and summery, but its bittersweet citrus taste from the Sicilian blood oranges, juniper berries and grapefruit makes it so delicious. I’m telling you this gin will have you thinking you are on holiday in the Mediterranean.
Simply this is a gin made for summer. When teamed with the Basil and Bergamot syrup and San Pellegrino Aranciata Blood Orange there is a tangy, sweet and fruity twist to make this such a lovely and refreshing cocktail.
The added bonus is the Prosecco, as what would a spritz cocktail be without bubbles?
Want to drink the Malfy Gin Con Arancia, not as a cocktail? Try Mediterranean tonic water, as it has a subtle aromatic taste or if you enjoy gin with bubbles, try Fever Tree’s Sicilian Lemonade for its sweet, delicate flavour. Whatever you do – just serve it over ice.
