Christmas is one of my favourite times of the year, I love everything from the decorations to the cheesy films, the mountains of food, and the joy of finding the perfect present for a loved one. Each year I put a little pressure on myself in finding Christmas gifts, I always want to make sure that my presents are thoughtful, unique, and if possible something they didn’t know they wanted, but now they have it, they couldn’t imagine life without it. I know right, so dramatic!!!
What I’m trying to say is, I don’t want to just to tick family and friends off a list because you’re expected to buy Christmas gifts for them, I want them to love what I have got them, and this year I’m sharing my secret weapon to making Christmas shopping fun, dare I say it, easier, and at a great price, TK Maxx.
For me, TK Maxx shines brightly during the festive season, it has become my ultimate spot for picking up gifts for my friend’s children and new babies, my mum, my neighbours, my best friend, as well as my husband – basically, everyone. You know why? Because they have so many options, from cute little gift sets you don’t see anywhere else to those incredible designer finds that make you scream a little with glee – I just love that they have brands and designers everyone loves, all for up to 60% less than the RRP.
My Top Tips For Buying Christmas Gifts At TK Maxx
Ditch The List – Have An Open Mind
If you go into TK Maxx with a specific gift in mind, you probably won’t find it, and you’ll miss loads of other beauties that would have been perfect. For best results, always shop with an open mind, my suggestion is instead to just have a think about all the things that person likes.
For instance, when it comes to shopping for my best friend I know she loves elephants, jewellery and is basically a magpie for anything shiny, so I always make a beeline for the jewellery gift boxes to see what new stock they have in. Don’t get me wrong, it takes a little time to find the perfect gift in TK Maxx as they have so much stock, and the jewellery section can seem a little daunting, but it is worth scouring through all the boxes – as look what I found an elephant necklace with matching earrings – both for less than £30.
For me, I like to be there when it has just opened, as the store is all organised and the new stock has just hit the floor, so basically it means I get the first look at all the new gifts, as most TK Maxx’s get new stock daily, especially in the run-up to Christmas.
Like Something, Always Pick It Up
One of the biggest mistakes you can make is liking something and put it back, wandering around a little more, and then deciding actually it was perfect. More often than not, someone else has picked it up to buy, or it has been moved, and you sadly lose out. I always get a trolley, add everything I think has potential and then go off to a quiet corner to make my final decision.
Gold Label = Big Designer Brands
Have a loved one who is a designer junkie, you need to keep an eye out for Gold Labels these are TK Maxx’s biggest designer brands, many of which are hugely discounted. Extra tip – check out the website, I regularly look through to see what gems have been added.
Don’t Forget About Beauty
This is one of my favourite sections of TK Maxx, especially when it comes to Christmas gifts, as they always do so many great box sets across make-up, fragrances and skincare, which always make great stocking fillers. While some of the brand names here might be a little unknown, give it a sniff you might be surprised, it is probably a carbon copy of that well-known brand you love.
Pop In Often
The trick I always tell people when it comes to shopping in TK Maxx, and to find that incredible bargain, is that you need to shop regularly, little and often, and try midweek.
Check The Website
Last tip, check the TK Maxx website, they even have a special section just for Christmas gifts, with gifts for her, him, kids and even pets, how cute. Bonus, buy online you can either get it delivered to home or opt for click and collect, as then you will have another excuse to have a little look around!!!
Christmas Gifting Ideas At TK Maxx
Bags, Bags, Bags
TK Maxx really offers a lot of options across Christmas gifts, but where I think it totally wins is its handbag department, designer and high street brands galore. You just need a good eye for seeing past some of the very trend-led items, always go for understated and timeless, the designer bargain will be all the prettier. Look it over properly, you don’t want any scratches, and check inside as sometimes they have dust bags with them. An idea of savings, I found a gorgeous black designer bag for less than £50 that should have been over £200 – not a bad find.
I always stock up on lovely smelling candles, beauty sets – I find hand creams a winner for a little additional gift, as well as socks, I love the bamboo gift sets pretty patterns and super soft, and don’t forget to have a look at the chocolates and sweet treats – always a winner. What I recommend everyone buys – animal warmers – these cute adorable lavender-scented warming treats just need to be popped in the microwave to heat up – heavenly.
Kids, Tweens and Teenagers
Christmas gifts for kids – TK Maxx has you covered, I think their toy section is so underrated, I always find something fun for my friend’s children, and I like that they do a lot of craft kits, I bought up some of these jewellery sets and I know that my friend’s daughters are going to love making their own jewellery, as well as cuddly toys, books and activity sets.
The clothing section is also amazing, I love that they always have a rail full of tulle dresses for little girls, so adorable and perfect for Christmas. For boys, check out the sweatshirts with cool prints and slogans, as well as sports shirts, we found a lot of rugby shirt that would be perfect for a sporty teen.
Where else can you pick up beautiful keepsake boxes, sleep sets, baby blankets, soft toys and baby gift sets – TK Maxx of course. It is always my first place I come when a friend has a baby, I love all the cute sets, and two of our friends had little ones not so long ago so I thought these blankets with comforters were just so adorable.
Christmas Gifts For Him
Always the hard one, what to get my husband. If like me you find it difficult, check out TK Maxx’s watch section – always so many great bargains, as well as the technology aisles, I’ve picked him up expensive wireless headphones before now, grooming – as who doesn’t love a good fragrance as a stocking filler, and I always give the footwear section a look as my husband loves trainers.
